Your Midlife Drinking Type is:
Autopilot
Your drinking habits are formed of years of learned behaviours, and the choice almost happens without you now. But deep down, you know there's another way...
❓ How the Autopilot Pattern Takes Over
You’ve been doing the same thing for years: same people, same places, same conversations… same drinking patterns.
You find yourself waking up thinking, “Oops, I did it again!” far more often than you’d like. And it’s hard to pinpoint exactly where the night took a turn because it all happened, you guessed it, on autopilot.
You have all the best intentions, but somewhere along the line, those go out the window.
You know that it’s time for a change, but with so little conscious awareness about when you’re making decisions that don’t fully serve you, it’s hard to know where to start.
🚷 Where the Autopilot Pattern Leads
So things carry on carrying on until one day you wake up and realise...
-
You genuinely can't remember the last time having a drink felt like a decision instead of a reflex.
-
Your nights all play out on repeat, without you ever clocking the moment you agreed to it.
-
You can't tell anymore whether you still enjoy a drink, or if it's something you just do.
⏩ Instead...
Picture yourself at the bar, genuinely pausing before ordering your next drink.
Checking in with yourself: “Do I actually want this, or is it just habit?”
And having the clarity to choose either way—no guilt, no shame, just intentional action.
That’s what breaking the Autopilot pattern feels like: putting yourself back in the driver’s seat.

🔋 Taking Back The Power of Choice
So now that you know that there is something that you can do to take back the power of choice from alcohol, your final step is to embark on a journey to a life less intoxicated and start your 4-Week Midlife Mindful Drinking Reset.
The 4WR is created with Autopilot drinkers like you firmly in mind.
Week 1 is all about building awareness around your habits before moving into Week 2, which helps you put the right boundaries in place where needed.
And because awareness and boundaries aren’t always enough when stress hits and old patterns resurface, Week 3’s alternative coping tools and Week 4’s long-term framework add the finishing touches to make your 4-Week Reset truly actionable.
Yes, I absolutely would recommend the Reset to someone in a similar situation. The prompts are really quick and effective and help you discover yourself, and the impact
has been huge already. I’m so impressed with the prompts and work that’s gone into this reset and how effective it’s been already.
- Kerryn F
The Reset isn’t about ‘going sober’ or saying you have to give up booze forever.
It’s about regaining clarity and control in your life.
You can find out more about the 4 Week Midlife Mindful Drinking Reset below.
And know that while your journey to a life less intoxicated starts with a single step, you’ve already taken the first two today!

Meet your Mindful Drinking Mentor
Hi, I'm Denise Hamilton-Mace (Dee, to friends), and I've been drinking differently for over 5 years now. After a 24-year stint in hospitality, drinking alcohol daily and partying like it was 1999, it wasn't until one hangover too many and a very upset little boy that I decided it was time to start taking back the power of choice from alcohol.
Now, as a podcast host, writer and public speaker on all things moderation in midlife, I'm on a mission to help as many people as possible to do the same, all on their own terms.
Welcome to your life less intoxicated!
